PALM SUNDAY - 14th April

Said Holy Communion   8.00am

Palm Walk  9.45am  To commemorate Jesus’ triumphal yet tragic entry into Jerusalem, those who wish to take part meet opposite the station to walk to church through the streets, carrying green branches. 

Sung Holy Communion  10.00am  As we begin the journey of Holy Week, the 10 am service reading of the story of Christ’s Passion according to Luke.

MAUNDY THURSDAY  18th April

8.00pm  Sung Holy Communion. Washing of Feet and Silent Vigil. We commemorate the initiation of the Eucharist at the Last Supper and Jesus’ humble washing of the feet of his disciples. The altar is then stripped to symbolise the stripping of Christ’s garments and the left-over bread and wine is placed on the Altar of Repose.  After the service you may wish to stay on while a silent vigil is kept until 10.00pm.

GOOD FRIDAY  19th April

10.00am  Reflection, Adoration of the Cross and Holy Communion from reserved sacrament. We gather in silence at the Altar of Repose before moving into the main church, as we remember Christ’s Crucifixion.  For Holy Communion we use bread and wine already consecrated and brought from the Altar of Repose.

11.30am Walk of Witness through the streets of the town starting from Amersham  Free Church and ending in St. Michael's Square where drinks and hot cross buns will be served.

HOLY SATURDAY  20th April

8.00pm  Sung Holy Communion.  We gather in darkness.  The Paschal candle, signifying the Light of Christ, is lit and we are invited to renew our Baptismal vows, remembering that in the early church Baptisms took place only at Easter.  This is followed by the first Eucharist of Easter.

EASTER DAY 21st April

Said Holy Communion   8.00am

Sung Holy Communion  10.00am
