WEEK OF ACCOMPANIED PRAYER (RETREAT IN DAILY LIFE)

MAY 2018

  • Are you looking for a deeper personal relationship with God?
  • Would you like to know more about different ways of praying?
  • Do you sometimes find it difficult to pray?

COTHA (Churches on the Hill in Amersham) is offering the opportunity of a Week of Accompanied Prayer (Retreat in Daily Life) between Sunday May 13 and Saturday May 19 2018. The format is very simple. A team of trained and experienced Prayer Guides will guide the participants one to one, encouraging and supporting them as they explore some of the above questions. The Week starts with one group session on the Sunday and ends with another group session on the following Saturday to celebrate and draw together the experience of the Week. No previous experience is necessary.  All that is required is a commitment to spend about half an hour a day to pray/reflect on a suggested text, usually from Holy Scripture, then to share something of the experience with their Prayer Guide each day for up to half an hour, in total confidence.

A member of the congregation has talked about her experience when she took part in a previous Week of Accompanied Prayer. Her presentation is available at http://www.stmichaelsamersham.org.uk/media/   Leaflets and application forms relating to the Week of Accompanied Prayer are available in the church.  For those wishing to take part in the Week, to contribute to the expenses of the Week, a donation of £20 per person is suggested, but please do not let cost be a barrier.
